Mary's Place Sharing and Caring Hands

Shelter

If you're in need of shelter, bring your entire family to Sharing & Caring Hands (525 N. 7th St.) Monday – Thursday at 10AM or 12:30PM.

We have apartments for homeless families with two or more children that are minors.

Please note that requests for shelter are considered on an individual basis and are not automatically granted.

Meals

Hot meals are served at our Day Services Center Monday – Thursday at 10AM & 1PM; Saturday and Sunday at 9AM; no meals served on Fridays. All are welcome to join us for these meals.

Food

Bags of food are given to families with children and individuals: Monday – Thursday 10AM - 11AM or 12:30PM – 1:30PM.

Dental

Dental services are available on a first-come, first-serve basis whenever a dentist is available. We provide extractions and fillings only. Please call our main number 612-338-4640 to check for dates and times to come. Dental clinic is located downstairs at our Day Services center. All services are free of charge and services are provided for those who have little to no dental coverage.

Vision/Glasses Program

Vision vouchers are available for adults uninsured or under-insured on a walk in basis at Sharing & Caring Hands during our hours of operation.  All vouchers are given on a case by case basis and not guaranteed.

For schools of minor children ages 6 -17, we have established a vision voucher email just for schools.  The school must request for vision voucher through glasses@sharingandcaringhands.org from a school nurse with a validating school email.  The email should include student's name, date of birth, and if student needs exam, glasses, or both.  Please note, we will not respond to any adult vision request or other request through the glasses email.

Beds

Beds can be ordered for those who have recently moved into an apartment/home (within the last 30 days). Beds are placed on a first-come, first-serve basis in person on Monday mornings starting at 10:30AM and end when we have an order of 50 beds. We deliver to Minneapolis and some connecting suburbs. We do not deliver to some areas of St. Paul and other metro locations. We are still able to order beds for clients not living within our delivery areas as long as clients can pick up their beds. Beds are full or twin-size and are new or gently used. We will order one bed per individual/up to two beds for families of two or more people in their households. You must bring your lease and some form of identification.

Step 1: Connect with your case manager or the organization you’re receiving services through.

My Very Own Bed provides new twin beds and Dream Kits to kids ages 2-17 in the Twin Cities Metro and surrounding communities through our referral partners program. We believe all children should have a warm place to sleep and rest their head. To get a bed through My Very Own Bed, follow our 1, 2, 3 on how to get a referral:

How to Get a Referral

Step 1: Connect with your case manager or the organization you’re receiving services through.

Step 2: Share your child’s need for a good night’s sleep.

Step 3: Have your caseworker request a referral for My Very Own Bed.

While we would love to be able to provide beds to all children, we are only able to accept requests through our referral partners program or a caseworker. We are unable to fulfill requests from individuals.

We encourage those who are seeking support to contact Minnesota’s Department of Human Services for assistance.
