Crisis Resources

Resources for Ongoing Support

  • Walk-In Counseling Center offers free, anonymous counseling.
  • Face to Face Health and Counseling, located on the East side of St. Paul, is a medical and mental health clinic that supports youth ages 11 to 24 with health care, mental health services, and basic needs services for youth experiencing homelessness. Face to Face offers counseling via video and phone appointments. Parental permission is required for youth under age 18. To find out more go to face2face.org or call 651-772-5555.

  • Transitions (Oct. 2019) – Information and resources to assist parents in supporting their young adult with a mental illness as they prepare for adulthood. Download, here.

  • Strength of US is an online community designed to empower young adults. It provides information and support for young adults living with mental illnesses.

  • Girls Rise up is a program for girls under 18 where they get an adult mentor who has also lost their mom.

  • Provides single mothers and their children with a safe, affordable place to live, quality early childhood education, life skills training, and support for career-track education.

  • Their 24-hour crisis line has an experienced front-line team member ready to help you now. If you’re not ready to call, you can post to their bulletin board, send an email, or start a live chat. It’s anonymous, confidential and free.

Minnesota’s Youth Corner

  • Provides a searchable database for resources on employment, housing, money management, legal help, finding a medical or mental health clinic.

Minnesota’s health insurance marketplace makes it easy to apply for and obtain medical insurance. All plans purchased from MNsure must cover mental health and substance abuse treatment. Even if you have a pre-existing health condition, it will still be covered under MNsure. Foster youth have insurance through Medical Assistance until they turn 26. Learn more about MNsure.

Youth Response Center: Available 24/7/365, the Youth Response Center provides immediate support and resources for youth and families. The Bridge also host YSNMN.org, a mobile app connecting youth with shelter and resources in real-time. For more information, contact 612-377-8800

Youth Housing Programs

  • Resilience House: Emergency shelter focused on family reunification whenever safe and possible. Provides temporary shelter, meals, access to healthcare, case management, and support for up to 14 youth, ages 10-17 – at this time capacity has been reduced to 6 youth for mitigation and management of COVID-19.
  • Gloria’s Place: The only emergency shelter in Minnesota for pregnant/parenting youth (ages 15-17) and their children (ages 0-3). Provides emergency shelter, case management, access to healthcare, and parenting education for up to six families. – at this time capacity has been reduced to 4 families for mitigation and management of COVID-19.
  • Marlene’s Place: The only site-based transitional housing program specifically for pregnant/parenting youth (ages 16-20) and their children (ages 0-3) in Hennepin County. Provides housing, case management, access to healthcare, and parenting education for up to five families.
  • Rita’s House: An intentional living community providing affordable rental housing and teaching independent living skills to 12 youth (ages 18-21).

Outreach & Support Services: Connects with youth in need on the streets and in the community through street, site-based, and mobile outreach; school partnerships; community education; counseling; aftercare; support groups; and specialized case management for crime victims and youth who identify as LGBTQ+.
